Terms of Service

Effective October 31, 2026

These terms govern your use of New Contractor List at www.newcontractorlist.com (“the service”, “we”, “us”). By using the site or creating an account you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service. How we handle personal information is in the Privacy Policy.

What the service is

New Contractor List reads the licensing records that US states, counties and cities publish about contractors, works out which licenses are new, and makes them available by state, county, city and trade. The methodology describes how, what each state covers and what it misses.

We are not a government agency or a licensing board and are not affiliated with one. A license appearing here is not a recommendation of the contractor.

The data is informational

The data is derived from public records and provided for information. Each record is what the licensing record said when we last read it; it can be out of date, incomplete or simply wrong in the original, and a read can fail. We do not warrant its accuracy, and coverage differs greatly from state to state. So:

  • the issuing office, not this site, is the authority on whether a license is valid;
  • check anything that matters before you rely on it;
  • nothing on the site is legal, financial, insurance or tax advice.

If a listing is wrong, or it is yours and you want it removed, use the contact form or write to support@newcontractorlist.com.

Acceptable use

You may use the service and the data you get from it to find and contact prospects for your own business. You are responsible for how you use it. Nothing on the site means a phone number is cleared for calling or an email address for mailing: we do not check either against any registry, and a number on a license can be someone’s personal cell. You agree:

  • to follow the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the rules made under it, including consent requirements for automated calls and texts;
  • to follow federal and state Do Not Call rules, including scrubbing numbers against the registries where they apply and honoring a request not to be called;
  • to follow CAN-SPAM and any state law on commercial email, including a working opt-out and honoring it;
  • to follow any state rule restricting commercial use of lists of licensees or of public records. Some states limit it, and it is your job to know the rule where you and the people you contact are;
  • not to resell, sublicense, republish or give away the raw lists, in whole or in bulk, or use them to build a competing list or service;
  • not to use the data to harass, threaten, stalk or defraud anyone, or to imply that a licensing board or government office sent you;
  • not to use the data as a factor in deciding anyone’s eligibility for credit, insurance, employment or housing. New Contractor List is not a consumer reporting agency, and the data is not a consumer report. Marketing your services to a contractor is what the data is for; underwriting from it is not;
  • not to scrape or download the site by automated means beyond what robots.txt allows, get around plan limits or access controls, share a sign-in, or interfere with the service.

If you get a complaint about how you used the data, it is yours to answer. We may close an account that breaks these rules.

Accounts

  • You can sign in with Google or with a one-time link sent to your email address. You must give an address you control.
  • You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract.
  • An account is for one person. Do not share your sign-in or let others use your account.
  • You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly at support@newcontractorlist.com if you think someone else has used it.

Subscriptions

A subscription opens the daily feed, full records, alerts and CSV export. All prices are in US dollars. If checkout is not open yet, the site says so and nothing is charged.

  • Per state: One state is $29 a month, for the state you choose. Each further state is its own subscription at the same price. Every state is $99 a month and covers every state we hold.
  • What a state holds: the coverage table says what we read in each state, and some are one city. Read it before you subscribe. Coverage can grow, and it can shrink if a record stops being published.
  • Limits: a CSV from the feed holds up to 5,000 rows, and an account can export up to 25,000 rows a calendar month on One state or 100,000 on Every state.
  • Renewal: subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account page. Cancelling stops the next payment, and access stays open until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Failed payments: if a payment fails, the card is retried, and the subscription ends if it never goes through.
  • Price changes: we will email you at least 30 days before a price change applies to you, and never change the price of a period you have paid for.

One-time packs

A pack is a CSV of every license on record in its scope, not only the new ones, bought once: County, city or trade pack at $19, State pack at $49, and National pack at $199. It does not renew. You can download it again, as it stands that day, for a year after you buy it. After that the download closes, and the files you already saved stay subject to these terms.

Payment and refunds

Payments are processed by Creem, which acts as merchant of record and is the seller for payment, tax and invoicing purposes. Any sales tax due is added at checkout, and Creem’s terms apply to the payment.

Refunds of subscriptions and packs follow Creem’s refund policy, as the seller. Write to support@newcontractorlist.com and we will help you with a request. Nothing here limits a refund right the law gives you.

Ownership

The underlying licensing records are public records. The site itself, including its software, design and the way we compile and structure the data, belongs to New Contractor List. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service as they describe. Anything you save, such as searches and alerts, stays yours.

Emails

By creating an account you agree to receive the service emails needed to run it, such as sign-in links. Alert emails are sent only for alerts you turn on, and each has an unsubscribe link.

Suspension and closing an account

You can close your account at any time by emailing support@newcontractorlist.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why unless the law or a safety concern prevents it.

Disclaimers

The service and all data are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or complete for any state, county, city or trade.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, New Contractor List will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, regulatory penalties or claims arising from how you contacted anyone using the data. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the three months before the claim, or $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Indemnity

If your breach of these terms, or your use of the data, including any call, text or email you send using it, leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date above will change when we do, and if a change materially affects account holders we will email you before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

General

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service.
